Sita: A Tale of Ancient Love
by Bhanumathi Narasimhanon Dec 23, 2024
'Ram', the hallowed sound of her beloved's name, reverberated through her head as it came from the small Vanara. "He is full of Rama," she thought, "but is he familiar with me?"
One of the most famous women in Indian history is Sita, the adored princess of Mithila; she is arguably the least understood despite her widespread fame. She made the decision to choose grace and acceptance over self-pity at every turning point in her life. Despite the sacrifices she made throughout her life, there was plenty everywhere she went. She had boundless patience, but it seemed as though she was sculpted out of a deep need for Rama. He mirrored her love, and she reflected his light in every circumstance.
She is both incredibly divine and incredibly human.
Bhanumathi depicts the world through Sita's eyes in this moving story. For these few unique minutes, we become a part of Sita, thinking and feeling what she does. Perhaps this viewpoint and Sita's timeless tale can help us understand a woman's genuine strength.
